   Lord Lakulish
   Swami Pranavanand
   Swami Kripalvanand
   Swami Rajarshi Muni
Divine Command

Within the modern parampara or spiritual tradition of Lord Lakulish there is a history of his giving darshan (visible manifestation of that which is otherwise invisible and unmanifest) to the Gurus of the Parampara to instruct them. In the first instance, Lord Lakulish had appeared to Swami Kripalvanand in the course of meditation in 1956 and had given him a divine command enjoining upon him two tasks:

  1. Construction of a temple of Lord Lakulish at Kayavarohan and revival of that ancient pilgrimage center.
  2. The worldwide propagation of the ethical, moral, spiritual and cultural values of the Sanatan Dharma given by Lord Lakulish.

Swami Kripalvanand completed the first task in 1974 when the installation ceremony of  an idol  of Lord Lakulish superimposed on a linga   in  a new temple  at Kayavarohan was  completed  among much rejoicing and great festivity. (Read Lord Brahmeshwar). From the moment of the inauguration of the new temple Kayavarohan again became a live and living pilgrimage place.  For the implementation of the second part of the command Swami Kripalvanand was as active as possible for spreading the teachings of Lord Lakulish while at the same time continuing to perform his yoga sadhana. However, a single person could not be expected to complete such a vast task during his own lifetime. It would have to be carried on by those to follow.

After the passing of Swami Kripalvanand on 29th December 1981, Swami Rajarshi Muni became the fourth Kulguru in this spiritual lineage. Initially, for five years or so, he remained in total seclusion and pursued his yoga practice without undertaking any external activity. Subsequently, he somewhat relaxed his total seclusion and adopted partial seclusion but did not turn his attention to furthering the work enjoined by Lord Lakulish to his guru. It was his understanding that this work had not been entrusted to him.  Also, he had the feeling that something that his guru was not able to implement fully would indeed be a very difficult task for him to accomplish.  Thus, the work of cultural reawakening received a setback for about a decade.  Ultimately Lord Lakulish gave darshan to Swami Rajarshi Muni on his birthday in 1993 and reminded him of his duties and obligations as head and kulguru (Head of lineage) of the Lakulish spiritual tradition. He commanded him to carry forward the unfinished task of spiritual and cultural renewal and regeneration. For this he suggested that Swami Rajarshi Muni form cadres of renunciate and non-renunciate followers and through them conduct a worldwide campaign to inculcate moral, cultural and spiritual values among the people everywhere.

To carry out this divine command and in order that the reawakening campaign may proceed in an orderly fashion, Swami Rajarshi Muni decided to create a Fellowship of willing workers and to establish an international organization through which moral, religious and spiritual awakening could be canvassed without discrimination based on caste, religion, nationality or gender. Accordingly, the Lakulish International Fellowship’s Enlightenment Mission (LIFE Mission), was established in 1993, the same year that Lord Lakulish gave the command. Later on it was registered as a Public Charitable Trust. (Read Life Mission).
